Time to come crappie fishing on Lake Fork and catch some deep water crappie. December and January is the time to enjoy catching a good mess of crappie to take home. I am catching crappie on humps in 33-36 feet of water. They would normally be deeper but the water has not really cooled of enough to send them into the true deep winter pattern. Minnows and jigs are working well. I am using an electric chicken colored jig. I am fishing one crank off the bottom. The flood gates are open on Lake Fork but I expect they will only be that way for a couple more days.
Once they close the bite will improve. The bass bite has also been good and I am now throwing a black/blue jig with a #11 black pork trailer around the deeper creek channels. I am targeting the bigger stumps and working the jig slow. If you are planning a crappie fishing trip next year I am now doing my crappie fishing, sand bass fishing, and catfishing trips out of my 22 foot bay boat. This bigger boat will allow me to take 5 adults plus myself crappie fishing. sand bass fishing or catfishing. I clean your catch and bag it. I start guiding for crappie, sand bass and catfish in May so its now time to get your trip on the books while you can get the good dates.
Weekends fill up quickly for crappie fishing trips especially when school gets out and vacations start. So give me a call 940-902-3855 or text me for open dates or your can send me an email at email@example.com Need also if you are a bass fisherman get your 2016 trip set up before the end of January. That is when I start doing boat shows and booking trips at the shows and than the dates go fast. My first show is in January at Little Rock Ar. So get your date set up. Have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year and hope to see you on the lake in 2016.
