Lake Fork fishing with Doug Shampine
Lake Fork fishing has been down the last week but next week with the temperatures in the low 80’s, it will pick up. I have been asked this question more times than I can count no the spawn has not happened. Yes you can find a bass here and there on a bed but for the most part not yet. My best baits have been the Carolina rig baby brush hog in green pumpkin, weightless fluke in green pumpkin and the senko type baits in the same color. I have also caught a few on swim baits. Most of my bass are coming at around 5 feet deep. Water temperature today was 62 and that is up from 58. Lake is still about 2 feet below normal. I have seen some crappie being caught shallow, and they are males. The big females are still out like the bass. Minnows have been the best bait and look for brush piles around docks.
