A new year is here and time to be thinking about and booking your 2023 bass and crappie fishing trip on Lake Fork Tx. The lake condition starting the year is water temperature is 44 degrees and upper end of the lake is stained and the lower end is clear. Lake level is 5 ft below normal. Starting with the bass report, if you are a jig fisherman now is the time of the year to be here. Look for the deeper creek channels, than find the biggest stumps or trees standing along the channel. Work your jig slowly around the base of the trees and use heavy line in case your fish gets hung in the roots.. One of the keys to catching bass this time of the year is to fish very slow. I also like to fish the north end of the lake as the water temp is normally a couple degrees warmer than the lower end. As for the crappie they are following the shad schools around and look for some humps in the deeper water around the damn area. You can find them right now in the 30-37 ft range and there must be bait fish in the area. I am using a 1/8 oz jig head with a chartreuse/pink jig body or chartreuse pepper. And you can use the old stand by minnows most any time of the year. If interested in booking a bass trip call or text 940-902-3855 for open dates starting in April. I start booking crappie trips for May and on. I have been guiding on Lake Fork for 22 years. I furnish everything for your trip just come get in my boat and go fishing!
