2017 Lake Fork fishing started pretty good due to the warmer weather. But today the wind is strong out of the north and will stay that way the rest of the week with a forecast of a little frozen stuff on Friday morning. That will slow down the Lake Fork fishing for a few days. But January is know for when the boat shows start in this part of the country and my first show is the weekend of January 20-22 at the State Fair grounds at Shreveport La, booth 13 in the Exhibit Hall. So come by and lets talk lake Fork fishing. Now is the time to book your 2017 fishing trip while the good dates are still open. I will be booking trips at the show. Keep in mind, the weekend days book first and that goes for the lodging around the lake also. Bass fishing was good the last few days on black/blue jigs in 4-10 feet of water. Shad colored crank baits also are working around the shallower stumps next to the creeks. The lake is now a little over 3 feet below normal. Surface temperature is 54 degrees but will now be going down. I always get asked at the boat shows is when is the best time to come to Lake Fork to catch the one really big bass? The prime time I see year in and year out is the last 2 weeks of March and the first 2 weeks of April. These are the prime dates and the ones that book up the earliest. You can catch big bass other times but this period is the best. Call or text 940-902-3855 for my open dates. Crappie fishing has been good in the mouth of Chaney and the flats at the mouth of Little Caney using minnows and jigs. Best depth has been 27-30 feet. If you can find a brush pile at this depth it will be full of crappie. Sand bass are on the points and spoons have been the best. #lakeforkfishingguides #lakeforkguides #lakeforkfishing #lakeforkcrappiefishing #lakefork
