Lake Fork bass fishing with Doug Shampine DSP Guide Service

Lake Fork bass fishing is still slow at the end of January, but will slowly improve as we get into late February and March. There are a lot of fishermen that think the spawn on Lake Fork takes place in the February/March time frame. But that is not true. If we have had a very mild winter, you may find a few bass on the beds late March, like the last 2 weeks but most of the spawn will take place in April and a few spawning in early May. So that is why I say the Lake Fork bass fishing will get better as it warms up in the spring. But that is not to say you cannot find Lake Fork bass fishing to be very good in February or early March. We just need a few warm days in a row to get the big females feeding and looking around on the deeper flats in the area where they will spawn. But when the cold fronts come rolling in the Lake Fork bass fishing gets bad for a few days till we get a few days of warmer weather again. Right now I can catch a few good bass on the black/blue jig in 4-8 feet of water. The lake has come up a foot and is now 2 feet below normal with the bigger creeks stained due to the last rain.
