Think about fishing with Doug Shampine as Lake Fork fishing can be very tough when the lake is 6 ft below normal as they work on the damn. Now running the boat lanes you will need to be very careful as there are stumps showing up in the lanes. So if you are thinking of coming to Lake Fork fishing do your homework. Places like Glade where a lot of early spring time bass fishing takes place is dry land. Now is when you might consider fishing with a guide for at least a day before you get on the lake. The Lake Fork fishing has been pretty good especially for crappie and fair for bass. I am catching bass in the creek channels of the deeper creeks on a black/blue jig around the bigger stumps that are now sticking up. Also a suspending jerk bait and don’t over look your finesse baits as the water temp is now in the upper 40’s. By the end of this month it will also be rattle trap time for the redish/orange traps. I am now booking bass trips starting March 28th and on. Call or text me at 940-902-3855 for open dates. I have been guiding Lake Fork for 22 years. As for the crappie I have been catching them down by the damn in 22-35 ft of water on minnows and jigs. I have been using a 1/8 oz jig head and a chartreuse pepper color body. Just look for the schools of bait fish and there will be crappie close by. The Chaney area is a good place to look or off Woodpecker point.
