April is the time for you to try your hand at shallow water bass fishing on Fork. This is the time of year a lot of different baits will catch nice bass in shallow water. You will find shallow bass about every where you look. With the full moon coming, bass will be spawning in most parts of the lake.
In the clear water areas, you will be able to see them, and at the north end of the lake where there is still stained water you will not see them. But they are there. Best baits for shallow water bass fishing on Fork will be a chartreuse pepper lizard Texas rigged, with a 1/8 oz. weight. Also a baby brush hog in green pumpkin rigged the same way. Target the newly flooded grass along the shore lines. The bass will be right up next to the grass making their beds. Fish slowly and you will see your line move off and may never feel the bite. Also do not over look the top water baits like the yellow magic and frogs. These baits can be deadly in the shallow water and the new flooded grass.
The lake level is still 2.9 ft below normal. I can show you places to use these baits and if you do not know how to use them I will teach you. I furnish all baits for your trip, so there is no need to buy any thing for your fishing trip. I even furnish the rods and reels if you do not want to bring your own.
