Fishing on Lake Fork with guide Doug Shampine

We are now into December fishing on Lake Fork and the surface temperature is in the lower 50’s to upper 40’s. Lake level is normal and the water color is normal. Just a reminder a fishing trip on Lake Fork makes a great gift and I can send you a gift certificate with the date of the trip TBD to be filled in after Christmas. If you need more information call or text 940-902-3855 for details or email me at doug@lakeforktrophybass.com This time of the year I start throwing black/blue jigs with a real pork trailer (#11 black) where ever there are rock like material that faces the south east. The sun keeps these areas a little warmer all winter and the big bass will hang around them. I also like the deeper creek channels to crawl a jig along the big stumps that line the creek. If I still see shad in the backs of the creeks I also will be throwing a rattle trap in the lily pad stems that are left as the pas itself goes away. This pattern works if the water temperatures is in the 50’s. Now as for the crappie fisherman this time of the year the big schools are moving off shore and following the bait fish around in the deeper water. I look for crappie in the 28-35 feet range in December. Fishing on Lake Fork for crappie can be fun this time of the year if the wind is not blowing too hard as these crappie are now in open water. Look at the mouth of Little Caney on the flats or off the area of Woodpecker point for the crappie to stack up. I like to use a pink/chartreuse jig body on a 1/8 oz head and two rigs to a pole. But I have seen dats where the crappie like the minnows so I will bring along both. I am also booking 2019 bass fishing trips. So if you ate thinking about fishing on Lake Fork lets set up your trip while the better dates are still available. #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforkcrappiefishingguides #lakeforkfishingguides #lakeforkguides #fishingonlakefork #lakeforkcrappieguides
