February bass and crappie fishing on Lake Fork Tx can be good or tough. It all depends on the weather and wind. Cold fronts will shut down the bass fishing to where they just wont bite. So if you are coming to Lake Fork bass and crappie fishing you might want to get a guide to show you around to make your trip successful. I have been doing very well catching bass where you find rock or rock like areas in the lake that hold a little more heat than the clay areas. A couple of baits working are the black/blue jig and I am using a black #11 pork trailer on my jig. Also a chad colored crankbait that dives to about 6 feet. The bass are holding in 5-10 feet of water. Slow is still the key as the water temp is 51 degrees. We are suppose to have some cold weather this week so that could drop a little. But as we get deeper into the month the bass will start moving towards the spawn areas. So being on the water a lot will give you an advantage. As for the crappie fishing, I am still catching them in 30-35 feet on a chartreuse/black jig on the bottom. I have gone to a 1/4 oz jig head to keep it on the bottom moving slowly around the humps I am fishing around the damn area. Look for bait fish and the crappie will be with them along with the yellow bass. You can catch big sand bass out of these areas with a small gold spoon if you like to catch them. I have been guiding on Lake Fork for 20 years and furnish everything for your bass and crappie trip.
