Bass & crappie fishing with DSP Guide Service

Bass & crappie fishing with DSP Guide Service

This is the time of the year the bass & crappie fishing starts to heat up. Also the sand bass fishing is also starting to get good. Before I get to the fishing report, let me remind you of my next boat show dates. I will be attending the Dallas boat show starting February 5th -14th. I will be booking trips at the show so come by my booth and lets set your trip up. After that I will be in OK City at the Backwoods Expo February 26th – 28th, also booking trips. So if you are in the area of either show stop by and lets book your fishing trip. Now for the bass & crappie fishing report.

For the bass fisherman, bass are still what I call shallow for this time of year. The black/flue jig and black #11 pork trailer is still been my best bait. I am throwing it along drops, shallow water 10-12 ft) dropping into 20 plus. When a cold front swings in they drop into deeper water. When it gets into the low 70’s like this weekend they will come shallower to feed. I am also catching them any where you find a boat dock with a boat ramp beside it. Work out to the end of the ramp on the edges and that is where I am getting my bites. Also try a 3/4 ox red/chartreuse belly rattle trap. 12-15 feet has been the best depth right now along the creek channels. As for the crappie fishing I am still catching them in the open water in 34-39 feet. Minnows and electric chicken colored jigs are both working.

Spring dates are booking up fast so if you are thinking about a trip might want to get your name on the books as soon as you can. As you know bass and crappie fishing will heat up quickly as we get into the middle of February. You can call or text 940-902-3855 for open dates or email doug@lakeforktrophybass.com for dates.
