As you can see I have not updated a post for a while. The last year has really had some really big changes in my guide business. My wife and I bought Fisherman’s One Stop / BRO’S restaurant. It is located at 7933 W FM 515, Yantis Tx 75497. It is one of the largest tackle stores on Lake Fork. We carry the latest in bass, crappie and catfish baits and tackle around the lake. We just started with serving lunch sandwiches and have a great selection of breakfast items made fresh daily. So I have been spending a lot of my time at the store. I am still doing a few guide trips buy with my long time customers. Have not been taking on new ones due to time to work in all things I have on my list daily. But if you call or text me at 940-902-3855 I will help you find a guide for what ever you would like to fish for. Lake Fork is really hot right now for big crappie as a 2 lber is fairly common. Both jigs and minnows are working in 15-20 ft of water around standing timber or brush piles. There is now some vegetation growing in the lake and where you find that with shad mixed in the cover you will find the bass! So if you are interested in learning more about our store check out www.fishermansonestop.com We sell non ethanol fuel for your boat. So come see us and if you read this report and come see us let me know you got the info from my post. Fishing questions text me 940-902-3855 or come by the store and ask for Doug.

A new year is here and time to be thinking about and booking your 2023 bass and crappie fishing trip on Lake Fork Tx. The lake condition starting the year is water temperature is 44 degrees and upper end of the lake is stained and the lower end is clear. Lake level is 5 ft below normal. Starting with the bass report, if you are a jig fisherman now is the time of the year to be here. Look for the deeper creek channels, than find the biggest stumps or trees standing along the channel. Work your jig slowly around the base of the trees and use heavy line in case your fish gets hung in the roots.. One of the keys to catching bass this time of the year is to fish very slow. I also like to fish the north end of the lake as the water temp is normally a couple degrees warmer than the lower end. As for the crappie they are following the shad schools around and look for some humps in the deeper water around the damn area. You can find them right now in the 30-37 ft range and there must be bait fish in the area. I am using a 1/8 oz jig head with a chartreuse/pink jig body or chartreuse pepper. And you can use the old stand by minnows most any time of the year. If interested in booking a bass trip call or text 940-902-3855 for open dates starting in April. I start booking crappie trips for May and on. I have been guiding on Lake Fork for 22 years. I furnish everything for your trip just come get in my boat and go fishing! Check back for more reports each month. #lakeforktrophybass #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforguides #lakefork #lakeforkguide #lakeforkbassguides

Think about fishing with Doug Shampine as Lake Fork fishing can be very tough when the lake is 6 ft below normal as they work on the damn. Now running the boat lanes you will need to be very careful as there are stumps showing up in the lanes. So if you are thinking of coming to Lake Fork fishing do your homework. Places like Glade where a lot of early spring time bass fishing takes place is dry land. Now is when you might consider fishing with a guide for at least a day before you get on the lake. The Lake Fork fishing has been pretty good especially for crappie and fair for bass. I am catching bass in the creek channels of the deeper creeks on a black/blue jig around the bigger stumps that are now sticking up. Also a suspending jerk bait and don’t over look your finesse baits as the water temp is now in the upper 40’s. By the end of this month it will also be rattle trap time for the redish/orange traps. I am now booking bass trips starting March 28th and on. Call or text me at 940-902-3855 for open dates. I have been guiding Lake Fork for 22 years. As for the crappie I have been catching them down by the damn in 22-35 ft of water on minnows and jigs. I have been using a 1/8 oz jig head and a chartreuse pepper color body. Just look for the schools of bait fish and there will be crappie close by. The Chaney area is a good place to look or off Woodpecker point. So if you are looking to come to Lake Fork fishing check out my guide service for your fishing needs. I supply everything for your trip if you do not want to bring your own stuff. So give me a call or text 940-902-3855 to talk fishing. #lakeforktrophybass #lakefork #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforkcrappieguides #lakeforkguides #fishermansonestop

Well 2022 Lake Fork Fishing will be a little different to start with. The normal lake level is 3 ft below normal and the SRA is dropping the lake another 3 ft to work on the damn. So the lake level early January will be 6 foot below normal. So a lot of the smaller ramps will be out of the water so check out the public ramps. They will be ok. Lake Fork fishing was good the last time the lake was this low so I expect so big bass to be caught early this year. I really like the black/blur jig worked along the bigger creek channels with the target being the bigger stumps or trees. I also like a crawfish red crank bait one the suspends for cranking the wood. Work the baits slow and the crankbait stop several times and hang on. The bite normally comes when the bait is stopped. Lake Fork fishing can be tough in January but what you catch will be good ones! As for the crappie, go to the deeper water and look for bait fish and you will find the crappie and sandbass. I like using minnows and jigs and my best colors for a jig will be chartreuse or pink and chartreuse on a 1/8 oz jig head. Check out the deeper flats at the mouth of Little Caney or the deeper water around the damn area. Just look for all the boats and you will see where the crappie are stacking up at. If you are interested in booking a trip call or text me at 940-902-3855 for open dates. I have been Lake Fork Fishing as a licensed guide for 22 years. I furnish everything for your trip so just come get in the boat and go fishing.

It is time to give an update on several things going on in Texas and on Lake Fork. The covid 19 restrictions have been lifted in Texas and wearing a mask is not required. Social distance is not a requirement so lodging and places to eat around the lake are no longer take out only. So time to get your fishing trips booked for 2021 and now booking for 2022. Now for information about Lake Fork fishing. As for the bass, its time to get over to this area and check out the Lake Fork fishing, for bass or crappie. I am still catching bass shallow and I think some of the bass are now just spawning on the main lake. We had a very late spawn this year and some very cold weather all spring which made the spawn later than normal. I am catching bass on frogs early where you find vegetation and shad in the area. Than I am switching to texas rigged baby brush hogs in watermelon magic and dipping the tail. The north end of the is very stained but the bass are still biting. I also thing its time for the brim to spawn so the bass will stay shallow to feed on the brim. So come to Lake Fork and try some Lake Fork fishing this summer and get out of the house. The crappie are also late spawning as some of the crappie we are catching still have eggs so I think they will also spawn in June. Best depth has been 15-20 ft in laydowns and brush piles. Best bait has been monkey milk on a 1/16 oz jig head or minnows. With all the rain we have had this past week the flood gates have been open a lot which makes the bite slow some times. So to book your bass or crappie trip call or text 940-902-3855 for open dates or set up your 2022 spring trip. #lakeforktrophybass #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforkcrappiefishingguides #lakeforkguides

Bass and crappie fishing Lake Fork is about to get turned on as winter winds down. Lake is in great shape about a foot below normal and a little stained in some of the creeks due to our last rain. Water temperature in the north end of the lake is 50-51 and on the lower end is 52-53 in protected areas from the north wind. This time of the year, for bass and crappie fishing Lake Fork water temperature is the key to finding fish. Look for the pockets in the north end of the lake protected from a north wind and a strong south wind. I have been guiding on on Fork for 22 years and each year is the same of where to find the warmer pockets. So for the bass right now many are still in deeper water, but some have started moving towards the spawning areas. I am finding them in the first 1/3 of the bigger pockets and as the water warms up they will slowly move deeper into the pockets where they will finally spawn. My search bait has bee the caroling rig with a baby brush hog in green pumpkin. I can move it slowly and catch both the fish that is still suspended and the ones on the bottom with the caolina rig. Other baits will also find some of these fish like the black/blue jig, spinner bait and crankbait. Look for stumps as these bass will suspend beside them as the water warms up. The crappie are starting to move from the deep water toward the spawning flats also. A lot still deep 25-30 ft but a few showing up in the 10-15 foot range. The weather long range forecast shows no major cold fronts for the next 10 days to the water will slowly warm and the fish will move also. My best color for crappie has been chartreuse on a 1/8 oz jig head. Of course minnows will always catch you a good mess. If you are interested in bass and crappie fishing Lake Fork give me a call or text 940-902-3855 for open dates. I furnish everything for your trip. #lakeforktrophybass #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforkcrappiefishingguides #lakeforkguides #lakeforkguide #lakeforkfishingguides #lakeforkcrappieguide #lakeforkbassfishingguide #lakefork

Crappie and bass fishing on Lake Fork is usually good in December, as the water temperature has not gotten real cold. As of today the north end of the lake is 51 degrees and the lower end of the lake is 55 degrees. Lake Level is still about 2 feet below normal. So the lake is in pretty good shape going into the winter, so now is the time to be going crappie and bass fishing on Lake Fork. Now as for the crappie, I am finding them at 22-30 ft on secondary points where you find standing timber. After the cold front comes through the crappie will be on the bottom. I am fishing with jigs and minnows and when I drop them down I am only coming up one crank of my reel. Bite has been light aster a front. Best color of jig has been chartreuse on a 1/8 oz jig head. The other color that is working is pink/chartreuse. But the catch has been good with several over 2 lbs. I am fishing out of a 22 ft center console bay boat and can take 5 adults on a crappie trip and 3 on a bass trip. I furnish everything for your trip, so just come get into the boat and go fishing. Call or text me for open dates at 940-902-3855. Bass fishing this time of the year is always good on jigs, especially black/blue with a same color trailer. I like fishing the deeper boat ramps as they hold just a little more heat than the lake temperature and the bass will hang out at the end of the ramp. Also a suspending crank bait with a orange belly red sides and dark top will catch bass in 5-9 foot range and make sure you stop cranking several times and let the bait sit still. So if interested in crappie and bass fishing on Lake Fork give me a call or text at 940-902-3855 to bet open dates or book your trip. #lakeforktrophybass #lakeforkcrappiefishingguides #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforkcrappieguide #lakeforkbassguide #lakefork

Bass and crappie fishing Lake Fork is now changing as we move into mid December. The water temperature on the lower end of the lake is 56 and the north end of the lake is 53. The crappie has now moved into the winter pattern for the most part. There are still s few shallow fish, shallow being 19-22 ft but most of the fish I found yesterday were at the 24 ft break line or the 28 ft break line. Good electronics will help identify the break lines and the brush piles related to the break lines. I was using a 1/8 oz jig head bigger for the deeper water fishing. I normally use a 1/16 but it takes a while to sink into 30 ft of water. Also a chartreuse Gene Larue body on my jig head. I like bass and crappie fishing Lake Fork this time of the year because when you find the crappie especially they don’t move much during the winter months. So time to book your winter trip by calling or texting 940-902-3855 for open dates. Traveling for Christmas stop by Lake Fork and fish for a day! Now for the bass. I found them also moving into the winter pattern which means black and blue jig fishing! If you like jig fishing now is the time to find any deeper boat ramp and throw a jig around it. the heat of the ramp will hold the bass at the bottom of the ramp because its a little warmer than the water. So boat ramps or any place you find rock in the water you will find the bass also. Retaining walls are also good places to look. The other bait I like this time of the year is a suspending crankbait that swims 6-8 ft and I fish it same places I fish the jig. Best color orange belly red sides and dark top. Now booking spring bass fishing trips so call or text 940-902-3855 for winter or spring dates. Or email doug@lakeforktrophybass.com if you have questions about a trip. I furnish everything just come get in my boat and go fishing. #lakeforktrophybass #lakeforkcrappiefishingguides #lakeforkguides #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforkfishingguides #lakeforkcrappieguide #lakefork

2020 has been a real different year so far! But the crappie and bass really don’t know any difference and the fall fishing means the bite is on. As for the crappie, still catching them in 18-24 feet in the brush piles using minnows and jigs. For you jig fisherman monkey milk by bobby garland has been my best color on a 1/16 oz jig head. I am also starting to catch a few on chartreuse and pink color using the same jig head. As the water gets colder this color will produce better. The water temperature is still 65 degrees lower end of the lake. As a reminder I furnish everything for your fall crappie fishing on Lake Fork. Just come get in my 22 ft center console bay boat and go fishing. I can take 4-5 adults on my big boat. Fall crappie fishing on Lake Fork will keep getting better as the water cools off more and December will be very good. So time to call or text 940-902-3855 for the open dates coming up and lets go fishing. For those that don’t like jig fishing the minnow bite is also good! This is also a great time to teach the kids to catch fish. So bring them along and let me teach them how to fish. Now for the bass fishing, fall also is the time to catch them shallow feeding!! Look for the shad shallow along the vegetation and you will find bass feeding with them. They will push shad into the shallow pockets and feed till they cannot eat any more. Rattle traps, spinner baits, square bill crank baits will all catch these bass. I like to find them early and throw a buzz bait in those areas and hang on. So if interested in a crappie or bass trip in the spring, call or text 940-902-3855 for open dates. #lakeforktrophybass #fallcrappiefishingonlakefork #lakeforkcrappiefishingguides #lakeforkbassfishingguides

Planning on bass and crappie fishing on Lake Fork this year? Call or text 940-902-3855 for my open dates for bass and crappie fishing trips. I have been guiding for 20 years on Fork and furnish everything for your trip so just come get in by boat and go fishing! If you want to send me an email send to doug@lakeforktrophybass.com and do not use the feature on my web site because its not working for some reason. The bass have started to move into some areas of the lake. The bigger females and not on the beds yet but you can catch a few on main lake points and the first secondary point of the bigger pockets. There was a big team tournament on the lake this past weekend and 10.78 pounds won with no overs weighed in. In order to bring a big fish to the scales it must be 24 inches of better to put in your boat. There were 312 teams fishing. I have found bass by throwing a split shot rig using a fluke in watermelon candy red or a centipede in the same color in 2-4 ft of water. Water temperature is 53 with some protected places at 56 with a lot of rain expected tomorrow. Upper end of the lake stained and probably will be more after tomorrow. Other baits working are suspending jerk bait, black/blue jig, a light Carolina rig using a baby brush hog, or weightless senko along the vegetation. As for the crappie a lot of fisherman are fishing the bridges like the 514 and 515 east along with the 2946 as the crappie start to move towards spawning flats. Soon they will show up along the vegetation at the north ends of the lake. A minnow and bobber will work well finding the spawning crappie than you can change to a jig and bobber and reeled slowly back to the boat. If you are interested in a trip contact me and we will get you date set up. #lakeforktrophybass #lakeforkbassfishingguides #lakeforkfishingguides #lakeforkcrappiefishingguides #lakeforkcrappieguides #lakefork #lakeforkbassandcrappiefishing #lakefork #lakeforkguides
